Eleven soldiers have lost their lives with 16 injured after gunmen opened fire on a military academy in the Afghan capital of Kabul on Monday.
The Afghan defense ministry says five militants were involved in the attack on the academy. The militants barricaded themselves in the basement before engaging in a fire fight with troops and were eventually subdued.
The Amaq news agency, who is believed to have ties to Islamic State militant group (ISIS), reported the group claimed responsibility for the attack.
Kabul residents are still recovering after Saturday’s suicide bombing which killed more than 100 people and left 191 people wounded.
