Max Verstappen continues to stay on form in the second free practice in Canada

MONTREAL, Canada -- Max Verstappen picks up where he left off by taking the second free practice before Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix.
Verstappen finished with a time of 1:12.198 on the pink banded hyper soft tire ahead of Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen in second. All Renault powered cars will enjoy an upgrade this weekend, which Red Bull will try to take full advantage of in qualifying.
Verstappen’s teammate Daniel Ricciardo finished third, but had a slow start to the session after the team had to address an electrical issue.
Ricciardo set his best time on the hyper soft tire leaving him just 0.405s from his teammate. Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton finished fourth and was 0.579s
off Verstappen as Hamilton spent the afternoon on the super soft and ultra soft tire. Sebastian Vettel finished fifth and was 0.208s behind Hamilton after setting his best time on the hyper soft tire.
Hamilton’s teammate Valtteri Bottas finished sixth with Haas’ Romain Grosjean in seventh. Grosjean had an unfortunate encounter with a groundhog in the closing minutes of the session. Grosjean received heavy damage to his front wing which been recently upgraded for this weekend. The Force India drivers finished eighth and ninth with McLaren’s Fernando Alonso taking the tenth and final points paying position.
Sauber driver Charles Leclerc, who has had a productive rookie season, took 11th. Toro Rosso’s Brendon Hartley and Kevin Magnussen in the second Haas finished 12th 13th.
Renault ’s Nico Hulkenberg finished 14th with Marcus Ericsson taking 15th in the second Sauber. Stoffel Vandoorne finished 16th but ran into trouble when he lost the rear of his car at Turn 7, making heavy contact with the barrier and damaging his rear suspension.
Sainz finished 17th and suffered a similar fate from also making heavy contact with the barrier coming out of Turn 8 and damaging the rear of his car.
Hartley’s teammate Pierre Gasly ended the second session 18th followed by the Williams pair of Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin in 19th and 20th.
