Rudy Giuliani, the current lawyer for President Donald Trump and former mayor of New York City attended a baseball game at Yankee Stadium on Memorial Day, May 28th. When the stadium announcer told the crowd Giuliani was there, celebrating his 74th birthday, he was booed by the audience. Loud long boos can be heard throughout the stadium as the jumbotron screen captured his reaction that seemed to be, I don’t care.
The reaction of the crowd to Giuliani should have been predictable, especially when you take into account his past and present behavior. Just days before the twin towers went down, his term was up and he was leaving office in disgrace. In addition to that, he moved his mistress into his home while his wife was still living there in order to force the wife out during a nasty divorce.
New York voters overwhelmingly favored Hillary Clinton in the Presidential election giving her 79% of the vote. Ask the average New Yorker about Trump or Giuliani and they will give you a list of what they refer to as the, “antics and embarrassments” of Trump and Giuliani. Both men had their critics before they started their current jobs. Lately, the little respect Giuliani could muster from New Yorkers, has diminished greatly. Not just his support of Trump, but the frivolous claims and verifiable lies he promotes when making the rounds on various news programs.
Giuliani was a former prosecutor who too sided with police no matter what they did or was accused of doing. He was a polarizing figure in New York where he promoted racial profiling and a harsh stance on the city’s homeless residents.
The boos by 50,000 New Yorkers at Yankee Stadium on his birthday was, a clear response to how they feel about Giuliani’s most recent “antics.”
