Despite a news filled week for President Trump he still took time to appear at a rally in Moon TWP, Pennsylvania, Saturday, in support of Republican congressional candidate Rick Saccone.
The rally was held at a hanger in Western Pennsylvania, Saturday evening before a crowd of 5,000. His appearance was a last ditch attempt by the Saccone to breathe life into a campaign that had all but given up. The anticipation of Trump’s arrival, invigorated the failing campaign that has since bounced back, and is currently neck-and-neck in the polls with Democratic nominee, Connor Lamb.
President Trump spent almost 90 minutes touting his achievements since taking office. Afterwards, he introduced Republican nominee for the 18th district Rick Saccone who spoke approximately 3 minutes, before the President reclaimed the microphone for one last appeal to, get out and vote.
President Trump fed the crowd with insults towards democrats, and people who are not in politics such as, Oprah Winfrey. He said it would be a “painful experience” for Oprah Winfrey if she ran against him. He withheld insults against writer Peggy Noonan, whom he said, “she writes like I’m some kind of Neanderthal.”
He invoked the name Nancy Pelosi to the jeers of the crowd, and continued his name calling routine by, tossing out the moniker “Low IQ” referring to Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and he did not forget to call Senator Elizabeth Warren, Pocahontas and Saccone’s opponent Connor Lamb, “Lamb the sham.” Trump told the crowd, “Connor lamb was soft on crime and they should look at his record on abortion.” Connor Lamb is an attorney and a veteran with no record as an elected official. He worked as U.S. attorney prosecuting drug dealers and other criminals, and this will be his first elected office if he wins on Tuesday.
The event felt more like a Trump campaign rally complete with signs that read, “Make America Great Again and Women for Trump.” Towards the end of the speech he asked the crowd “Is there any more fun than a Trump rally?”
When he spoke about immigration, it was to tell the crowd “The Democrats are the party of sanctuary cities.” From that, the crowd broke into a rendition of “Build that wall” He told a story of how the President of Mexico begged him to stop saying Mexico will pay for the wall.
When in fact, it was the other way around. The Trump administration begged Mexican President Pena Nieto to stop saying “Mexico will not pay for the wall.” He mentioned the actions of, the Mayor of Oakland, California, who warned undocumented people when ICE was planning a raid.
The President called on congress to stop funding sanctuary cities by saying “The funding bill should not give taxpayer money to criminals.” He repeated his call to congress to stop chain migration and blamed the Democrats, for not having his Ambassador to Germany confirmed by saying, “they were obstructing anybody he put forth.”
Trump did not let the crowd forget that he received 306 electoral votes and, the Electoral College is harder to get than one vote. Afterwards, he told them “they want to take it away” but did not say whom ‘they’ were. While telling them “they are going take away your tax cuts, second amendment rights, and the military budget.”
He spent a great deal of the speech blaming Fmr. President Obama, and Democrats, for anything he did not accomplish or found fault with. He said he had 270 people the Democrats will not approve. The Democrats have said, “He has not sent anyone up.”
He criticized Reagan for trade policies, advocated killing drug dealers, and held Singapore out as a model of justice. He applauded ICE agents who drag people and shoving them in the “wagon,” and once again said law enforcement should be rough with suspects. To fight the Opioid crisis, he said, we might have to go after the “Drug Companies.”
Before wrapping up the night, President Trump unveiled his campaign slogan for 2020 as “Keep America Great.”
