The team unveiled the car via Twitter, which has been highly anticipated this season, as the four-time world champions are a possible title contender with the new regulations focusing on aerodynamics an area that the team has proven to be very strong in. Red Bull’s chief technical officer Adrian Newey who is regarded as one of Formula One's master designers, led in the construction of the 2017 car. What sets the RB13 apart from the rest of the 2017 grid is the nose, which features an inlet opening at the tip. The rear of the car features a shark fin similar to other cars unveiled this year. Daniel Ricciardo said: "The car is going to feel a lot different. Both front and rear tyres are significantly wider. It will increase the speed of the cars. First impression of the RB13 was it looks quite beautiful. Looks sleek."
Renault will once again power this year but will still be branded as Tag-Heuer, as well as a partnership with fuel and lubricant supplier ExxonMobil. The ExxonMobil deal means the engine will use different fuel and lubricants to the Renault factory team, which uses BP and Castrol.
Red Bull Racing enter the 2017 season on the back off of a very impressive second-place finish in the constructors' championship last season, they were the only team other than Mercedes to claim a victory, with Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo each taking wins in Barcelona and Malaysia. |
