Daniel Ricciardo and Red Bull remain on top in second practice for the Monaco Grand Prix

MONTE CARLO, Monaco — Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo continued his strong performance in the morning practice session by taking the second free practice of the Monaco Grand Prix.
Ricciardo finished with a time of 1:11.841 on the new pink banded Pirelli hypersoft tire which makes it’s debut this weekend. There was a brief red flag after a loss manhole was discovered during the session. The cover was quickly repaired leaving 50 minutes running time in the session.
Teammate Max Verstappen followed suit finishing 0.194s behind his teammate in second as Red Bull continue to take advantage of the tight, low-speed corners of the Circuit de Monaco.
Championship rivals Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton finished third and fourth with Hamilton 0.123s behind Vettel. Neither driver appeared to show there hand during practice, but Mercedes and Ferrari may have more than each other to worry about as Red Bull could mix things up this weekend. Vettel’s teammate Kimi Raikkonen split the silver arrows in fifth with Valtteri Bottas in sixth.
Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg finished seventh ahead of the McLaren’s of Stoffel Vandoorne and Fernando Alonso in eighth and ninth. Carlos Sainz took tenth in the second Renault followed by Brendon Hartley, who hit the streets of Monaco for the first time in a Formula One car, finished 11th for Toro Rosso.
The Force Indias of Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon ended the second session in 12th and 13th. Hartley’s teammate Pierre Gasly finished 14th with Williams’ Sergey Sirotkin 0.137s behind Gasly in 15th. Hometown hero Charles Leclerc split both Haas cars finishing 17th with Kevin Magnussen and teammate Romain Grosjean in 16th and 18th.
Lance Stroll took 19th in the second Williams while Leclerc’s Sauber teammate Marcus Ericsson took the final spot on the time sheet in 20th.
