Armed Deputy stayed outside during Florida school shooting

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas school resource officer who was armed, while the gunman took the lives of 17 students, the security officer was watching from a protected position has been placed on suspension pending an investigation.
Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said, “Scot Peterson was suspended without pay and placed under investigation, then chose to resign.” Sheriff Israel went on to say, the school officer should have “went in, addressed the killer, killed the killer." After viewing the video, Sheriff Israel said he was, "devastated, sick to my stomach.”
The revelations have angered the parents and others who have just been made aware of the school video of Peterson’s inaction. During a meeting with administration officials at the White House on Thursday, and during a speech at the conservative political action conference (CPAC) today, President Trump, suggested training and arming teachers to carry a gun to school in case they have to confront a gunman.
The National Association of School Resource Officers is the organization which trains law enforcement officers that work in the nation’s have responded to the President’s comments saying they are against firearms on school campuses except those carried by “specially trained police officers.”
