A Arizona hospital has become the center of attention after 16 of its nurses became pregnant.
Sixteen nurses who work in the intensive care unit, Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, AZ told reporters in a press conference Friday, they will start taking maternity leave from September.
Nurse Rochelle Sherman, who is eight months along, said: “I don’t think we realized just how many of us were pregnant until we started a Facebook group.”
Another nurse Paige Packard said “I know a couple of us did fertility treatments.”
16 of the expecting nurses received baby rompers that say "Relax... my mom is a Banner Nurse!"
Banner Desert Medical Center officials say the nurses will not be given tasks that involve exposure to harmful diseases or radiation.
Officials also said at the conference they will coordinate with other hospitals to ensure that the ICU will not be affected by the shortage of their nursing staff.
